Quick post

Just a quick post...
My dad is visiting and has removed all the rust on our sock knitting machine, and has re-painted it. I just can't wait to see it! He's also the only person in the family that was taught how to use it, and has used it afterwards. He'll spend some time teaching my sister and I how to use it.

I had to take a break from my Christmas knitting, so I've started and completed my first item for Dulaan 2007: a yellow scarf. Sorry, no photos yet. Next post...

Updates...

As promised, here are some updates:
Work has been really busy: my partner-in-crime gave birth to a 10 pound baby girl (yes, you read right, ten pounds!) two weeks ago, so now I have to hold the fort for her until she returns from maternity leave in about six months.

My sister and I haven't attempted anything yet to salvage grandpa's sock knitting machine. Instead, we spent time reminiscing about him using it, and about other knitters in the family. We also spent a bit of time researching, and found out that we have a Model 400, manufactured by P.T. Légaré in Montréal.

On the knitting front, I have joined the Dulaan 2007 project. Noticed my button? I have committed to knit five items, but of course will knit more (after I'm done with my Christmas knitting). I'm pretty sure that we will reach our goal of 10,000 items by the end of winter, and I look forward to see our progress on Ryan's blog. For those of you who are not familiar with the project, have a look at this link.

As you may have heard, we had a few snowflakes in Toronto already. Of course, nothing like in New York, but still got cold enough to get Sophie shivering a bit. I knitted her a sweater and she gave me this look and said: "What kind of a sick joke is this? You want to keep me warm with this?"

So sorry!

I'm so sorry dear readers, I never meant to neglect you....
Time seems to have been multiplying by four recently. What felt like a week ago since my last post has turned out to be a month! I will catch up this weekend, I promise!
